NWHA 2008 Annual Conference to be Held February 19-21, 2008

The Northwest Hydroelectric Association announced its 2008 Annual Conference to be held February 19-21, 2008 at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront in Portland, Oregon. The conference, themed, “The Climate of Hydro,” will cover a range of legislative, regulatory, and environmental issues hydro faces today.

“Public awareness of - and concern about - climate change continues to grow, especially in the Pacific Northwest,” noted NWHA Executive Director Jan Lee in announcing the conference. “At the same time, demand for generating capacity grows. Hydropower generation presents a sustainable approach to our energy future.”

A number of ocean and tidal projects are also being considered to help meet the growing demand, according to Lee. The NWHA Annual Conference provides a forum in which all hydro interests in the northwest can come together to discuss what’s working well and to examine areas that need improvement.
